Chatter Creek is one of Western Canada’s largest and most spectacular cat-skiing and destinations! The cat-skiing terrain at Chatter Creek comprises of 238 square kilometres of mountain terrain that extends from 1,500m (5,000 feet) elevation to almost 3,000m (10,000 feet). That is equivalent to 92 square miles and is in excess of 58,000 acres.
Situated on the western slopes of the Rocky Mountains, deep in Golden’s backcountry, Chatter Creek’s location enjoys a unique air mass, which produces some of the lightest, driest powder snow in the world. The varied terrain encompasses a mix of tree skiing, vast alpine bowls and spectacular glaciers. The views of the Rockies to the East and the Columbia and Clemenceau ice fields are unparalleled.
Chatter Creek’s base is located just outside Golden, just a three hour drive from Calgary. From Golden, guests take a short helicopter ride to a stunning backcountry lodge and enjoy 2-4 day packages of cat-skiing, gourmet meals and accommodations.
Cat-skiing is what Chatter Creek is famous for. Take the cat to the top of your own personal playground. At any one time, the vast area is shared by no more than 36 skiers or boarders, plus their 6 mountain guides.
In April, when the cats are away, the Chatter Creek terrain and lodge open to backcountry snowmobilers. Stay at the lodge and ride the incredible terrain on your own or with a certified guide.
Accommodation
Chatter Creek guests stay in well-appointed double occupancy rooms with adjoining ensuite bathroom. The Vertebrae and Solitude Lodge both offer a warm, spacious atmosphere to relax and overnight.

Guests are offered a wide variety of unforgettable meals prepared by the Chef. A professional baker offers daily artisan breads, fine pastries and incredible baked goods. A wide range of beers, liquors, wines and cocktails are available to complement the Rocky Mountain fusion cuisine.
