River Valley Ranch

River Valley Ranch lies in an idyllic valley with fertile fields and the Kootenay River runs through it. The farm is nestled at the base of the Rocky Mountains and bounded by the river and Crown land.

The Highland cows are their feature as well as the 500 acre property which includes wildlife viewing platforms and six kilometres of Kootenay River-front with sandy beaches. Surrounding the ranch are miles of Crown land for hiking, biking and lake access.

The ranch is an old world mixed farm applying bio-dynamic farming practices.  The farm and household are off-grid and run on alternative energy. The farm land, vineyard, eggs, meat, vegetables and fruit are all permaculture based. Livestock includes farm reared poultry, heritage purebred registered Highland cattle, dairy goats and heritage breed pigs.

Accommodation

A newly built studio will be ready for overnight rentals spring / summer 2024.
The studio is built with hempcrete and is attached to their hempcrete farmhouse.
