Perched high in the Monashee Mountains, Rossland was the site of Canada’s richest 19th century gold strikes. Today, the mountain lovers who flock here strike gold on the stunning hiking opportunities.
Families have a number of leisurely trails to pick from with no big climbs and lots of places to stop for a snack. The 100 Acre Wood is a great hike for all levels through a beautiful old forest filled with birdsong. More adventurous groups can tackle a hike at RED Mountain Resort such as gaining altitude on Old Glory.
The KC Summit (Centennial) Trail (pictured above) is an easy, woodsy walking and biking trail to the Kootenay Columbia Summit which overlooks the city of Rossland and the valley. A 1.5 hour outing at the most.
The nearby city of Trail offers the incredible Columbia River Skywalk, family-friendly trails at Gyro Park, the popular Sunningdale / Bluffs Loop and more in the neighbouring communities, such as Warfield and Montrose.
