This summer, along with the Legendary Mountain Bike Park, Fernie offers scenic chairlift rides, lift accessed hiking to a variety of trails throughout the mountain ranges.

Timber Chair: Sightseeing, hiking and downhill biking Open Saturdays and Sundays starting June 28, 2025. The Timber Chair will be closed July 12&13. |
Lift Accessed Hiking
Hikes ranging from easy to advanced, all provide great opportunities to see a variety of native flora, wildlife and fossils. Views from the Lizard and Kodiak Observation Decks are outstanding.
Elk Grove Forest Playground
This playground is an adventure-filled playground located at the top of the Elk Chair. It promises to be a unique, fun-filled experience for kids and families.
Guided Nature Hikes
A number of guided nature hikes and specialty hikes are offered.
Nature Bob’s Interpretive Centre
Step inside the interpretive centre in the yurt at the top of the Elk Chair and explore fossils, artifacts and information about the unique geological formations and the wildlife that makes its home in the area. Complimentary interpretive walks are offered daily at 2:30pm.
Bike Rentals
Stop by the rental centre and they’ll get you set up. Biking Lessons are also offered – learn a new technique and enhance your biking experience.
